MTN Nigeria gifts subscribers airtime, data due to October 9 outage

MTN Nigeria has compensated its subscribers with airtime and data due to the outage its consumers witnessed last Saturday. The Chief Executive Officer, MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, shared the information with subscribers on Sunday. Toriola, via a video message posted on the company’s YouTube channel with its link sent to all subscribers of the network, apologised for the error. In his message, Toriola said, “Last Saturday we had an outage that left our customers without connection for several hours. On behalf of the entire MTN team, I want to start with a heartfelt apology. We are truly sorry for the disruption this caused for so many in our MTN family. “We know that millions of people rely on us to stay connected to their loved ones, to manage their businesses, to coordinate their lives. The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has revealed that the new minimum wage will kick-start from April 18, 2019, when it was signed into law. This was made known to newsmen on Friday by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige. The Labour minister noted that whenever the new wage was to be implemented, it would be done in arrears to reflect the date Buhari signed it into law. “It is a national law and no governor can say he will not pay. Issue of the national minimum wage is item 34 on the exclusive legislative list of the third schedule of the Nigerian constitution. Every state government is now owing workers if they have not started paying N30,000. We are now in a committee working out a new template with which we will adjust upward,” Ngige said. Speaking to newsmen at a press conference on Thursday, the minister also revealed that states are to share N649 billion – the final tranche of the Paris Club Refund. However, she noted that debtor-states will have to settle their debts soon, adding that the Federal Government plans to begin the final phase of the debt refund. “The total sum of N649.434 billion was verified by the ministry as the outstanding balance to be refunded to the state governments,” Ahmed said. The Court of Appeal’s Media Officer, Sa’adatu Musa Kachalla said this in a statement on Tuesday. Kachalla said, “The Presidential Elections Petition Panel will begin its inaugural session on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Abuja Division courtroom. Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation has reacted to broadcast by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday. Buhari had during his speech urged Nigerians to vote right in Saturday’s presidential election. He also assured Nigerians of free and fair elections. But, reacting, Fani-Kayode said he observed that Buhari slurred all through his speech. According to him, this showed that Buhari is a ‘Shadow of himself’ who needs a hospital and not re-election on Saturday. Fani-Kayode on his Twitter page wrote: “I watched as Buhari slurred through his broadcast just now and I felt nothing but pity for him.I asked myself “look at what the troubler of Nigeria has been reduced to? “He is a shadow of his former self and a pitiful sight.This man does not need a 2nd term: he needs a hospital.”
